Skyrim Countdown

RE: Skyrim Countdown
I hasn't tried it- Skyrim is a role playing game, isn't it? Not fan of RPG games. I prefer First-person shooter and Third-person shooter games such as F.E.A.R.3 and Halo Reach.

However, I do have Dragon Age Origins - pretty addicting at first, but has hardly replay value. That's what stopping me from buying Skyrim.

Ah it's glorious, until you try to take on two consecutive dragons with no health potions. I beat the first one, but the second one gave me the ass raping of a lifetime. Quite wonderful tho, the only issue I had was following the wrong guy in the beginning
"In our youth, we lacked the maturity, the decency to create gods better than ourselves so that we might have something to aspire to. Instead we are left with a host of deities who were violent, narcissistic, vengeful bullies who reflected our own values. Our gods could have been anything we could imagine, and all we were capable of manifesting were gods who shared the worst of our natures."-Me

"Atheism leaves a man to sense, to philosophy, to natural piety, to laws, to reputation; all of which may be guides to an outward moral virtue, even if religion vanished; but religious superstition dismounts all these and erects an absolute monarchy in the minds of men." – Francis Bacon

Wow, you're way farther along than I am. I'm still exploring and learning my way around.

Four dragons down...
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Only one dragon down for me, but I only played for a few hours on Friday. I have been too busy to play much. Sad

RE: Skyrim Countdown
I've played it for an hour so far, so haven't really done much yet. I'm trying to complete MW3 first Big Grin

Also, I've just remembered why I hate the first few hours of any Elder Scrolls game:

No horse + having to walk miles to do quests =/= fun.

I find that aimless freedom fun Dodgy Falling damage is overpowered in this game. Truly overpowered. All I want to do is climb that bloody mountain, but it kills me if I drop ~15 feet. Outright kills... it doesn't do tons of damage, it doesn't hurt like hell: it's an instant death.

Which sucks a lot.

Dude, the elder scrolls games are famous for their limitless questing and things to do. Skyrim literally has INFINITE quests. This is confirmed. Also they are first person anyway, not the bog standard party based RPG's you normally get.

Can I also just say, this is the best game I have ever played.

There is a glitch where you can climb practically any gradient of slope by turning your back to it and jumping backwards. That might help you.

Also, @Napoleon: yeah, they have infinite quests, but they repeat the same kind of thing forever, which means they will quickly become boring. Spore had infinite "quests" in space mode, but they were usually pretty similar.

Oh come on, it will be an eternity before you even have to start repeating the same kinds of quests. I put 300 hundred hours into oblivion and I still didn't complete the dark brotherhood questline, the fighters guild questline and the thieves guild questline, all of which are main stories in their own right. On top of that was the hundreds of random quests I didn't do around the world, and the several areas I didn't explore. Skyrim will be much the same. 30 hours in I haven't seen any repetitiveness, and 30 hours is usually more than it takes to complete the common fps.

I think you're quite mad if you say Skyrim is repetitive or has no replay value. The elder scrolls series is built upon the endless discovery and questing that the PC can get up to.
