Am I Going To Hell?

The questions I propose to you is:
  1. Am I going to hell? (based off of the sole fact that I am an atheist)
  2. Why?
  3. Do I deserve it as much as a rapist/ serial killer/ pedophile/ molester?
  4. Does a single unrepented/unforgiven sin = Eternal torture?
  5. Why do other people of your same faith disagree with your answers to those questions.
I want do not want a flood of atheists' comments creating a buffer between this post and theists' comments, so, if you are an atheist, can you please hold off until there is at least one other response? Thanks!

First of all there is not evidence of hell and most evidence points to mere nothingness after death, so no you aren't going to hell.

Why would you go to hell?  You got me.  Not even Hitler (to choose an infamous example) deserves eternal punishment.  Even inflicting everything he inflicted on anyone else wouldn't come close to eternal torment.

Unless you are a rapist or serial killer etc. no you don't deserve as much punishment as they do, though even they don't deserve hell.

No, no one deserves hell.  That's one wrong equals an eternity of ultimate wrong.

They disagree with hell because they have actually applied their moral sense to the question.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

Based on that reasoning you should not believe in an afterlife due to lack of evidence.  The only conclusion that can be made is that you become nothing.  I am not saying you become nothing, you are saying it.  You believe nothing will happen after you die.  And I am saying your wish will be granted, you will become nothing and be forgotten.  Who cares if your are famous, you won't be in any divine form to know it, because you decided not to believe in God and determine nothing is out there.

Why do even care about what happens to your matter and energy after death? You are an atheist, please for God sake don't worry about.

I never said I believed in an after life... but good straw man.
I never said I would become NOTHING when I died... but good straw man.
I never said NOTHING will happen after I die... but good straw man.
I never said that I don't deserve Hell if I become famous.. but good straw man.
I never said I was worried about what would happen after I died... but good straw man.

If anyone is trying to explain to anyone else what the straw man fallacy is, please direct them to this post. Thanks!

I do not know how someone can say they were saved if they in turn reject any belief in God. Someone who's saved should have had a relationship with Him and with that relationship should come knowledge of God. So how can one who claims to once be saved deny the God he had a relationship with, seems impossible to me. Then there's the thing of lying to one's self. I do not believe in once saved always saved, I believe one can give up their salvation, what I do believe is someone who professes to be saved and rejects their salvation, deny the existence of the God who saved him. My opinion you were never saved if you do not believe in God's existence, sorry that's my opinion.

I didn't reject anything, GC. That's the problem. I just wasn't able to believe any longer. Through no intention of my own. I was never angry against the concept of the biblical god. I was never rebellious at all. I simply couldn't believe in ridiculous, nonsensical ideas.

Regardless, a loving god would not create a reality where the vast majority of it's beloved creation would suffer through eternal torment. God created hell, god created the concept of salvation and how it works, god created the repercussions of good, honest, gentle people suffering in eternal fire forever simply because they could not believe.

God had no limitations. But, God, in its infinite wisdom, created that kind of reality. Yeah, not buying it. No more than I'm buying the idea that I'm a squirrel.

I think the big thing is that Christians feel a sensation of things being "right" within themselves. And they construe that feeling as being god's acceptance. I felt the same thing when I finally admitted to myself that religion was hogwash. I felt this incredible feeling of it being right, and almost like a feeling of acceptance within myself. A feeling of everything being right with the world.

A religious person would assume that was god talking to them. I think it's really just your inner psyche coming into harmony with your conscious beliefs.

According to the Christian fairy tale you have three possible destinations when you die.  There's the sea, death, and hell.  The good news is that they are all temporary and everyone gets bail on Judgment Day.  But that's when you can win the lottery or when you get hit with the crap.   Even though you might have been in hell you can still get a room in the giant golden bejeweled cube called New Jerusalem, but only if you're a member of one of the twelve tribes of Israel.  If you get hit with the crap you are then tossed into the lake of fire.

I was considered "saved" by pretty much everyone who knew me growing up.  But I unintentionally committed the sin of thinking too much about my religion and being objective in evaluating the uncomfortable truths about it.  As a result, I was no longer able to believe.  I didn't want to stop believing, it was just what I found to be the obvious truth.

Other Southern Baptists would now say that I was never saved, ever.  But here's the thing.  Everyone would say I would be in Heaven right now if I had died at 25 before I started deconverting from my religion.  Saying in retrospect, based on my life after that age, that I was never saved, really destroys the ability of other Southern Baptists to know with any level of surety that they are really saved.

If you told me at 25 that when I was 30 I would be an atheist I would have been pretty pissed at you and told you not a chance in hell.

No matter what, I couldn't simply decide to believe in god today.  No matter how much I wanted to.  I could no better force myself to believe in god than I could force myself to believe I was a squirrel.  The facts simply prevent me from believing in absurdities.

If the wages of be incredulous based on the facts that reality shows to you is eternal torment in hellfire then I must find fault with the concept of a supposedly loving God that I was raised to believe in.  That would be an extremely sadist way of creating reality for humans.  If you are truthful about it (which Christians can't seem to be with themselves about) you have to admit a loving god would simply not do that.

When did the biblical God character ever appear to be loving in any of the biblical stories?  He's always a maniacal prick.
