Knowing what we know about how children mature and make choices, it would be wrong not to have laws in place to protect them against making potentially life altering choices before they are emotionally and mentally developed.

The funny thing is consent is required for a hetero marriage as well, im not sure why its a problem now that gay people are marrying. I have never heard an argument against gay marriage that couldn't be applied to all marriage. If he is going to use the slippery slope argument than he should be arguing to abolish all forms of marriage because "traditional marriage" is what paved the way for gay marriage.
