Some mutations reproduce better. In this case, the meme got a defective characteristic in that its level of emotional threat isn't high enough, because the end-result threat is too far down the timeline.

It is not merely too far down the timeline; it is that the threat is totally irrelevant to one's existence.  How the universe ends has nothing whatever to do with what happens to you.

Call me a pervert, but I'm always amused when someone misbehaves. Farting or burping at the dinner table, vandalizing public property or sending unsolicited bullshit. So, yes, I would have loved to get one. If for nothing else, than an elaborate reply.
