The Atheist Obsession with Insulting Christians

For those of you who have made the effort, I certainly appreciate it! It shows you're here to actually talk to us as people as well and not just bang on our heads and try to convert us.  For those who never make this effort, it's really hard to develop any kind of relationship. I've noticed these tend to be the same people who rarely joke around and have fun on here. That also makes things really hard.

^This^

Look, I'm as guilty as anyone here of throwing bombs and insults when I get bored or frustrated with a member. Honestly, I'm not quite such a prick in my day-to-day life and would welcome opportunities to get to know something about some of our religious members aside from what apologetics they favor and how often they can cite the Bible or Koran.

I've long thought that when it comes to GC, Drich, Chad, and -- yes -- even Randy, I would probably like each of them IRL and would enjoy them a lot more here if they would just for once stop yapping about their faith. There are other things to talk about, after all, and it's good to lighten up occasionally.  (Professor gets a pass on the religious talk since he is so delightfully loony. I wouldn't change a thing.) And I liked CL from the start. But as others have said, she's made an effort to become something in our little community other than an antagonist.

Vinegar or honey, theists.  Vinegar or honey.

And you would be right, but damn.

I had you pegged as one of the most egregious examples of those whom this thread is about.

RE: The Atheist Obsession with Insulting Christians
Can an atheist ever hope to insult a Christian to the same extent that Christian insulted Christ by asserting he knows better than Christ on . . .

well, we all know the drill, the atheist trots out the 'list' of stuff in the Bible that sure seems to be inconvenient to today Christian on the go

and the Christians respond, "Well, that's Old Testament (usually right after voting for a republican douche who wants to put more of Leviticus in the Constitution) so it doesn't apply any more"

and then the atheist go, "But Christ said he was here to Fulfill not overturn the Law"

but then the Christians come back with, "All, we have to do is say we believe, and EVERYTHING else is FORGIVEN, Praise Jesus!!"

and then the atheist counter with, "but comporting according to all His wishes should be EASY now since you're all full of His Love, and stuff"

And then the Christians say, "Neener, neener, neener!"

Did I leave out anything ???
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Got nothing to do with the bank on the corner and everything with the publishing house on the third floor. The turquoise sign points to it. Though now it's red. The picture is rather old as it seems.

I'm wondering if he's not embarrassed by the general sense of congeniality between believers and non-believers here, and how that reflects on his OP.

Quod erat demonstrandum, as they say. There's no apologist covering the matter. So smiley's all he's got.

This is an opinion thread. I have offered mine (and that of the author quoted in the OP), and I read all the rest.

However, if you have a TOPIC about Christianity or Catholicism that you wish to discuss, start a thread.

I'll do my best to provide more than smiley's. [Image: ani_yup.gif]

No, Randy.

You quoted another author and now you ran out of ammunition. Since you never have anything to say for yourself, if you can't copy paste and plagiarize. You're not a very interesting person in my opinion.

Yeah, you're probably right. Embarrassment requires an honest self-appraisement.

This has actually happened to me at work, and I hadn't shared my lack of belief with anyone.  I'm not interested in my co-workers religious beliefs and I don't care for them to know the details of my personal life. Apparently my lack of participation in the Jesus-jabber at work, caused a mildly astute          co-worker(bitch) to ask me if I was "religious" out of nowhere. With a smug, shit-eating smirk plastered on her face.

She was clearly attempting to to rattle me and cause embarrassment. Unfortunately for her, she was new and didn't know me. Suffice it say, by the end of this discussion she knew she'd fucked up and was swearing that she was just asking because she "exploring religion" and wanted some insight, and even went so far as to say that she was interested in atheism(lie).

I gently informed her that spiritual matters are best explored outside of the workplace, so we wouldn't be discussing my lack of belief any further...smug bitch-face included(mine). Since then, most of my religious co-workers essentially treat me the same as before, or at least do to my my face.

There is one co-worker who just stopped speaking to me completely, unless she is absolutely forced to. Then she responds with as few syllables as possible. Little does she know...I'm actually loving it.
