True. But you can usually get a tattoo removed, earn more money, or find a new job - or even beg your old boss to take you back. There might be no going back from late termination of a pregnancy, even if it seemed like the right choice at the time. And yes - I do think people should think for more than a week about all of those things anyway. Especially tattoos - they're usually horrible...
I get your point. I really do. But we can't outlaw things just because someone might make a rash decision that they will regret for the rest of their lives. I am reminded of my OBGYN who, 2 years ago, refused to perform a tubal ligation on me. He said I was too young at 24 to decide that I never wanted to have another child. Ugh. Even if I'm being rash. Even if I might regret something. As an adult person, I should be free to make my own choices and deal with the consequences however I see fit.

While I agree with that on principle - I can think of at least a few people I know, who I'm not so sure should be free to make their own choices. After all - we do force people by law to fasten seat-belts, wear motorcycle helmets and take other precautions they might - and often do - regard as unnecessary. Especially when the consequences may be borne not just by the person in question, but also their families and society/tax-payers.
There are no easy answers here, I'm afraid. If there were - we would have figured them out by now.
Of course - I do think the doctor, who refused the treatment you wanted was a dick.

I'm also against seatbelt laws. I always wear mine and I would even if I wasn't legally required to but I don't think I should be legally required to.
Some people can be declared mentally incompetent and then someone else can make decisions for them. If they don't qualify as mentally incompetent they should get to make their own choices even if they make terrible choices.

Well, that might work, except that in a situation when someone makes a sudden irreversible and time-sensitive decision, that may not be in their best interest - there may not be enough time to assess whether, or not they're competent. Which was my whole point regarding the termination of a pregnancy shortly before birth. People can lose their marbles very suddenly.
As for seat-belt laws - I'd rather force people to wear them, than pay with my taxes for keeping them on life support.
ETA: I will plead hypocrisy here, though, since I tend to endanger my life constantly, by - among other things - smoking, using drugs, street-skating without protective gear, neglecting my mental health, being a mouthy pr*ck, etc, so I won't blame you for taking my opinion with a grain of salt or two.

LOLOLOL TRY 75 MILLION YEARS DIPSHIT! Shouldn't be surprised, Xenuists don't know shit about their own religion.
Why were Xenu's spaceships shaped like aeroplanes? Aerodynamics won't help when you're flying through space, moron, you can't propel a fucking airliner into orbit! This isn't rocket science. oh wait yes it is you're an idiot.
You know Palpatine was a Xenuist and the Galactic Empire's Anti-Jedite propaganda was endorsed by Xenuism, objective logical proof of that you support Order 66 you can deny it all you want and that only proves my true facts! I bet psychologists shouldn't be allowed to get married! you irrational bigot if I was president, I'd have every one of intolerant shits thrown into a live volcano! You wouldn't believe all that xenu bullshit if your mom hadn't made you a retard by drinking while she was pregnant, if you were objectively rational like I am and not objectively stupid like I prooved with evidence, you'd admit how obvious science is!
Science is true. Evolution is the basis of human morality and Darwin is a scientific fact.
