Yeah, that's pretty much my take on it as well. That's why it's important to get the definitions of these buzzwords sorted out, so we're not talking past each other going "well, that's not what I believe".

I always thought sin simply denotes the act of dividing the length of opposite side of a right triangle by its hypotenuse.   if I had known it had such terrible consequences, I would have opted out of trigonometry in the 8th grade, joined an after school prayer group, and became content with having as much working knowledge of math, as say, Jesus.

According to the biblical fairy tale hell is temporary.  Everyone makes bail on Judgment Day and after that no one returns to hell.  In fact they might be be able to get into the golden cube called New Jerusalem but only if they are members of the twelve tribes of Israel.  Otherwise, it's off to the lake of fire.  Revelation 20:13-15
