Did he ever have to?

Did some minister/priest ever try to?

That it's a belief for some, a fantasy for others, no. That it is reality with all of the rules, what if's and who deserves to go, YES!
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Yes he had to, but not towards ministers but towards people from our village and once our housekeeper who would drop remarks like you have to be good or else you go to hell.

It's extremely wrong and very immoral. Especially if you're talking about hell to mean eternal damnation and torture as opposed to merely separation from God... but even then it's cruel considering children are often taught to believe that being loved by God is the most important thing of all, and so to tell them that they could lose that love for sinning, when sinning isn't even immoral... is fucking sick.

I answered the OP question seriously... but I'm not taking the writer of the OP seriously.

I've known he's a poe from the very beginning it's so damn obvious.

I know the OP is a Poe/Troll trying to make Christianity look bad, but I answered anyway because it is an issue that gets brought up a lot here.

That, and I'm bored lol.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

If you misbehave, you will go to hell-- that reminds me of the very few German children's books I know of. Is Struwwelpeter  still a German classic?  My step-brother and sister were raised on it (their mother was a German war-bride). It was one of the books they used to learn to read German.  They thought it was funny, and it was presented to them that way. I've only read the English translation my step-father (he married Mom years after I was married and out of the house) had around the house.  It is funny if you have a sick sense of humor.   But it is certainly a book based on threats about what will happen if you suck your thumb or otherwise misbehave.   It reminded me of the alphabet book brought from Frankfurt that Heidi uses to teach Peter his letters in Heidi.  Dire things happen to children who don't master their ABCs--everything from reform school to solitary confinement.

@Jenny A,

I have certainly read it when I was a child, yes! That was 30 years ago though. I'm not planning on giving it to my daughter when she is old enough, except maybe as a joke. Ok I will probably give it to her as a joke if she inherits my sense of humor.
