There are so many different flavors of xtians, though.  Anyone who wants to can find something in that vapid pile of dung to sustain their "beliefs."

I think Crossless's explication is spot-on -- this is inherently different from the conditions which drove the rise of autocrats in 1920s and 1930s Europe. If I had to draw any comparison, I'd point to post-war France, with a polity split by ideologies which, while mostly not extreme, are still fervently held and stubbornly fought.

Honestly, I always keep wondering what it is with Hitler. He was just your average psycho, who happened to come to power in a major industrialised nation. You know how bad you have to be to get rejected by an art academy? Like, fingerpaintingly bad. And he managed it twice. So yeah, a career in politics was pretty much inevitable after that.

He wasn't that bad. Just boring and lifeless. That's what the acedemy commission said. Lifeless pretty much fits the bill of someone having no empathy.

I cant paint worth a shit that is still way better than I could do, but regardless that didn't make Hitler a good guy, he also owned a dog, probably treated it really well too. He was still a demented sick fuck.
