I'm just happy I get my free coffee from Dunkin Donuts again. Two weeks without it, I was beginning to feel lost.

Been a while since I've done a game write up, but this one deserves it.
Patriots 27 - 6 Texans I was apprehensive about this game before it started. The Patriots had lost two games in a row, both in annoyingly close circumstances, both due to either defensive or special teams errors, both from 14 point leads. Yes, JJ Watt had a broken hand, but he's JJ Watt...there's a reason he's the #1 defensive player in the league. Our O-line is also a joke. The O-line held though, for the most part, by putting two people on Watt each play, meaning Brady got sacked far less (and never by Watt). The return of Gronkowski meant Brady had some actual receivers to target again, and throwing LaFell short/medium rather than deep passes improved his completion percentage. Our running game also improved (ironically by losing Blount due to injury, and replacing him with Brandon Bolden, who gained us a few first downs when we really needed them. Our defense was really on point, forcing a number of turnovers (one fumble and two failed 4th down conversions). In the end, we held them to two field goals, despite them getting into the red zone on a number of occasions. This was a great win for the Patriots, one that we needed after the last two weeks. Even the injuries we suffered during the game don't seem too bad, with most of them being sprains that shouldn't have an effect on our post season. One more win and they tie the 14-0 1972 Dolphins as far as consecutive regular season wins. Back then the season was 14 games regular season. That was the year they beat the Redskins in in Superb Owl VII 14-7.
Holy crap, the Falcons defeated the Panthers and destroyed their perfect season.
The Falcons for fuck's sake!
Did Carolina play their second string?!?

Jets beat the Patriots. My week is toast. I'm in a race for the bottom.

The last time a team won all their games was when it was a 14 game regular season. Winning 16 is damned near impossible. Most of the time when you are that far ahead in your division and you are 1rst seed with a bi and home field you rest your starters. No point in getting your stars hurt before the playoffs. Did the Panthers pull any starters? Are you purposefully forgetting the Patriots 16 - 0 season to annoy me? :-P
I've learned that if I win my picks for week 17 regarding the Seahawks and the Packers, then Minnesota will face Green Bay again in the wildcard round. It's scary, but that would make for an exciting week 17 and 18.

I guess I simply wasn't paying attention or forgot. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_New_E...ots_season |
