Me too, I think I am only just realizing that sometimes perhaps when we think we are being realistic we're actually being a bit pessimistic, though.

But then on the other hand I still try to be careful because next minute I'll be being overly optimistic and I really don't want that, I would rather lead on the pessimistic side than the optimistic side.

Luckily there's no chance anything would ever go to my head though. After all, I still feel pretty damn bad about myself and perhaps I always will at least a little bit.

That's the thing, it's not always realistic. I'm not saying your critiques of yourself are or aren't on target, I don't know you near well enough to do so, and I don't have an A69 membership so I can't see any of the, ahem, creeper stuff The point being, oftentimes our self-critiques aren't rooted in reality, but rather a mentality that inhibits us from praising ourselves, for whatever reasons.

I know why I'm that way myself. I work to get around it, but ingrained programming is fucking hard to break.

Agree wholehearted thump. Only in the last couple of months have I realized that perhaps my 'realism' is a tad on the pessimistic side. And just like Summer says, we're hardest on ourselves sometimes. I think that can skew our realism sometimes.

But absolutely I try to be realistic and I know she does too. It's hard sometimes isn't it? Self-criticism is really difficult to get accurate without being too harsh on yourself.

Now THAT is interesting - I had a conversation about a month ago with someone about how a girlfriend of mine and I are super awkward sometimes in real life but stick our Nikons in our hands and suddenly we're hot bossy bitches with ALL the confidence. Funny how having a "tool" of some sort that expresses a passionate side of you is all you need to bring out the inner sexy.
