Welcome.
I also was raised catholic, but in an actual catholic country in Central Europe. Growing up I also often heard, that if I didn't like it, I should leave. I didn't like it. I left. The joke's on them, because my country of origin is a sh*thole. Which is why a large number of my friends and family have left since - even the ones who still love Jeezles.

So, what's the use of certainty? How does being certain about something affect how true it is?

What if it turns out atheists are wrong and they end up cooking forever?
Atheists might want Hell to stop. They might wish it would stop. But I have news for you. IT WILL NEVER STOP!
This poor, young impressionable poster had better get back in God's graces before it's too late!!
Yes, the hell in your brain must be completely unbearable. For most of us, hell is a silly threat made up by preachers in order to fill the pews.

We could both be wrong.
I suppose if I really wanted to be safe, I would collect every religious symbol and book an worship hundreds of potential Gods in the hope one of them is the true God. Or be punished anyway for Polytheism.

Gosh. Pascal's Wager on an Introductions thread. How do you find your way into an atheist forum and fall into that trap?!

I'm an atheist, and I meditate a fair amount. I feel like it rearranges things in my brain, pushing the bad stuff to the side so my focus can be on something different.
Welcome!
