This is wholly inappropriate. Trying to have your case aired in a thread about a new rule is exactly the type of disruption that you claim you don't do. As stated, this is not a democracy, and it is wrong of you to ask the staff to make a public defense of their actions. Staff deliberations are private and if you have questions about your being disciplined, then you should take it to PM with staff. All you are accomplishing here is to justify the poor opinions people have of you.
^^
This. In spades. If you read no other response, Penguin, you need to read this one.

I see penguin can't help but take something I said, remove all relevant context, and make accusations that I had some kind of vendetta against him.
Listen up, fuckwit - I had nothing to do with your temp ban. I abstained from the discussion and the vote specifically because I felt I would not be objective.
Now go fuck a cactus.

Think of the forum this way:
It's Tiberius' personal house. He owns it. Everyone here is here because he let them into his house, as a guest.
If someone wants you to leave their house, they have the right to ask you to do so, without even having to give a reason. But here, the reasons which will cause you to be asked to leave are made clear, and procedures are in place to make sure it's handled as fairly as possible. This is far more generous than Tiberius needs to be.
He has appointed trusted friends to make sure people aren't shitting all over his carpet when he's not around, and he trusts them to show people the door should they act inappropriately. If someone asks you to leave their house, giving you a reason or not, you do not have the right to argue the case as if it's a course of law. You are there as a guest only, unless you are paying rent. You don't have to pay anything to join this site. But again, Tiberius is more generous by offering an appeals procedure.
As it happens, I think the staff are excellent based on my time here both as a member, and now being behind the scenes myself. If people want to discuss decisions, then they need to contact the staff privately and not moan about it on the open forum.

Thing is, we have so few actual rules, and the ones we do have are more common sense if not basic courtesy, that deliberate suicide by Mod is almost as intelligent as setting yourself on fire as a result of shitting.
