Well technically you may be correct.  The world is actually 5,776 years old because the ethnocentric Middle Eastern Jewish religious fairytale says that is how old the Earth is.  As a believer in the fairy tale you should believe that, shouldn't you?

Anyhoo, I must admit, I'm no subject matter expert here......but the most basic understanding of genetics leads even a layman like me to suggest that thinking the entire human race came from 2 people to be a special kind of stupid.

Huggy, it doesn't seem like you actually have a coherent grasp of what you believe. Saying things like, 'the way science spins it,' and 'the scientific version of,' only highlights your ignorance. There does not exist multiple, equally plausible versions of the theory of evolution for people to pick and choose from depending on what sounds good to them. There is only the correct description which arose from the scientific method, and is supported by evidence. If your personal interpretation differs, then you are simply wrong.
