You're right and it shows how ludicrous the law is. They're not actually bothered about making cisgendered women feel more comfortable, or even safer, it's actually an expression of their bigotry. They need people to hate and look down upon in order to feel better about who they are themselves.

trans-male is assigned female at birth, but identifies male.
trans-female is assigned male at birth, but identifies female.

Woops sorry.  You're right.  It can get confusing.

Usually if a trans male has had reassignment surgery, they easily pass as female.  I know a guy who has had the surgery and, well . . . he still looks really butch (male jaw line and adam's apple have not been altered yet) but - - most would fool you.

This is a transgender man, he has a vagina, he is legally required to use the women's restroom in North Carolina.

The world has become very confusing.

That's Aiden Downling, whom I just used as an example in my Facebook argument with an acquaintance, on this subject... and I have to admit, he is a gooooooood looking man. I'm confident enough in my sexuality (and the potential fluidity thereof, though I've never really been interested in men) to admit that.

Of course, then there's Janet Mock, who's not only hot, but super-smart and really eloquent... ever since I saw her appear on The Daily Show, she gets my heart racing, no doubt!
