Could E.T. have influenced religion?
#61
RE: Could E.T. have influenced religion?
Could E.T. have influenced religion? If the question had been 'Did' then I would probably say it's very, very unlikely. However, with the word 'Could' then we are in the realms of possibility.

Now, I'm pretty sure that this universe is swamped with life, most of that life is probably microbial although we are of course basing all our assumptions on the only biology that we know of, which is this planet. I mean, who knows what nature as realised that we can't even imagine.

Anyway, a percentage of microbial planets will no doubt have developed 'animal' life and again, a percentage of those planets with multi-cellular life will have spawned intelligent life on some level that we can understand. Now all you need is for some of these worlds to develop technology and start exploring and developing further and further.

Also, one must remember that it only takes one advanced civilisation to spread beyond the confines of its own system and start colonising other systems to, over millions of years, create multiple 'alien races' that can all trace their ancestory back to one planet. This is something that is never factored into the Drake equation, much to my annoyance....

So, to me, the chances that we are alone in the universe or even our own galaxy are very low and to answer question, "Could we have visited by some people from other worlds in the past?" and "Could they have mucked about with early societies on some level or another?" then the answer has to be yes. However, as I'm sure that this has happened on countless worlds similar to ours throughout the mists of time and space, I don't believe it has happened here.

History seems to take 2 corses from what ive seen(also it changes from mouth to mouth, now imagine thousands of years). The history we learn is only what the government want's us to know or believe.

The first course it can take is acknowledged, accepted, learned, then truth.

The second course it can take is acknowleged, rejected, forgotten, then false.

This thread is about the possibility of alien's influencing the many religions of the world. Well we all know stories change from mouth to mouth. The possibly of aliens coming to earth teaching us how to live better lives could be plausable in the sense it would have either taken one of the two corses, maybe both. Maybe after time, instead of aliens it turned into gods, then god and jesus was included later on. It would have been totally unacceptable for such things to be know to comman man if there was to be an elite ruling class. Or maybe it was simply forgotten, and they came up with religion to try and explain what happend. This is completely hypothetical because there is no evidence to support such a thing. But it is entirely possible, however we will never know for certain.

@oggtheclever, this is exactly what i think, as you rightly said it only takes one civilisation to break the confines of its own solar system and then they can continue to colonise multiple planets, enabling them to spread at an amazing rate.

yeah, you gave your explanations. i was telling people WHY i wanted an answer, i wasnt asking for one in that particular post. the difference seems quite clear to me, dont know about you.

as for the reason you gave, sure it is all perfectly viable, and a thousand times more likely it happened in a way you suggested than by aliens cutting it with a big fat laser. but it's still not concrete 'this IS how it happened'.

exactly my friend, this is a hypothetical post exploring the possibility of alien interference in religion. hence the title 'COULD E.T. have influenced religion'.
at least someone gets the general point.

How about the South American natives.. you know..the ones who have all of those "landing strips" around their ancient cities, thought the sun would not rise without fresh human blood being spilt daily.

Unless you want to admit that the "aliens" who taught them to build their pyramids, and do brain surgery, taught them also that the world was flat and that the sun only rises when humans are sacrificed.

what difference does it make what the aliens chose to teach them? they could have indeed decided to teach them the world was flat for all i care.
ever realise the possibility of a social experiment? fill us with lies and see how it affects us? maybe they were using us all as a giant big brother experiment, choosing to poison our minds with crazy shit to see how we react and progress.

and i'd love to see some evidence to suggest even vaguely that the ancient nazca peoples believed that
1. the earth was flat
2. they must sacrifice humans to make the sun come up

ARGH!! Ive been STUMPED! Ancient Astronauts must have OBVIOUSLY landed on Earth to seed it, and to play their mind games with us. I was a fool to question something that was so obvious.

I will imediately go out and buy a copy of "The chariot of the Gods" and learn true science and history..I swear!
