Yet it can come unintentionally. They're incredibly strong. I saw a silverback drag some full grown idiot tourist, getting too close to his family, like a puppet. Dropped him after a few yards, but if he intended he could have bashed his head in with hardly any effort.
By the way, these are also incredibly intelligent beings. A few of them have been taught sign language and what they have to say speaks of a high environmental awareness.
As I said, I blame the parents. If you take your little idiots to the zoo, act accordingly and keep both eyes out for them. My parents always did, as I said earlier. There's no way in hell that kid could make it through all the barriers without any chance to stop him.

Yeah, if that gorilla intended harm - it would have been on horseback, holding a machine gun. I guess people, who work at that zoo didn't see "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes". Amateurs...

Yes, sadly even if the gorilla had shown NO signs of aggression, because he was failing to come away from the child, he was posing a threat. Even if he was attempting to protect the boy from the screaming humans, he might have hurt or killed him accidentally. The zoo keepers really made the right call, all things considered. I just find it terribly sad that call needed to be made at all.

She was a bit of a douche in thanking God for saving her kid, and not even saying anything remorseful about that beautiful animal that got shot so her kid could live, but calling her a shitty mom is overkill, IMO.
Why does thanking God make her a douche? She believes in God, so it makes sense that she would mention Him. How does this make her a douche??

People saved her kid. The zoo authorities sacrificed an animal in their care, to which many employees were probably emotionally attached. Thanking god is disrespectful and self-interested. "Oh, let's make sure I use this publicity to score some points with Jeebus and especially with my religious community, who will read that in newspaper and gonna think I'm sooooo pious."
Where was god when the damn kid wandered into the enclosure? The way I see it - god wanted that kid dead.

Maybe if the kid had floated up out of the enclosure without some man having to shoot the gorilla?
"God" gets a lot of credit for stuff that he has nothing to do with.

You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

There has been another similar incident couple of years back. Look what happened there.

I saw no aggression whatsoever in that video. Granted the child was in a position to be accidently hurt, but they could have used tranquilizers. From a safe distance, they could have challenged the gorilla and once they had its attention, tranqed it, then get the fuck out of the way as it charged and forgot about the kid.
Well, yeah... But how can you be sure, that the gorilla reads wikipedia?

Because if there were a god, could it not have told the gorilla to leave the kid alone? Or kept the kid from falling into the pit in the first place? Instead, the poor caged gorilla was killed. So, "Thank god the gorilla was killed and I can continue to be an idiot"?
