Assessing a republic based upon the metrics of a democracy is as ludicrous as assessing a helicopters performance as a helicopter based upon the metrics of how well it performs as a car. I think that "puppet democracy" would be an adequate..if disparaging...... term for -any- rep republic, though, don't you?

We -didn't- start out as a thriving democracy Aractus. We started out with an open disdain for democracy. The founders then didn't want the plebs to have the reins anymore than our current crop does. Now, forcing us to vote would not fit with our idea of a representative republic...which is what we are. I would be forced to vote for someone whom I felt did not...you know...represent me.

You're not forced to vote. You only have to go to a polling place, accept a ballot paper, take it to a booth, and then put it in the ballot box. It's a secret ballot, so if you want to leave it blank that's up to you.
Oh and can someone please explain this to me. Hillary Clinton said "if you are under FBI investigation you should not be able to just walk into a shop and buy a gun no questions asked". But she's under FBI criminal investigation as we speak and she can run for president?? What kind of hypocrite double-standards does the dumb bitch have?
