Personally, I find the rule against sexual jokes extremely restrictive.
Against my defiant nature, I promise I'll try very hard to be good because I like it here.
But I'm worried that this will be a negative change.

Depends on the context. If it's a news story about pedophile priests, it's fine, and you can discuss the stories as you would any other news article. For cartoons, if the cartoon is making a joke that is sexual / pedophilic in nature, that would now be prohibited.
When it comes to things of a sexual nature, we're basically limiting members to discussions only. If you want to make sexual jokes, use sexual memes, etc. do it in Area 69.
What qualifies as a sexual joke? It seems like a loose definition. Can I drop the occasional 'that's what she said.' or does it have to be overtly pornographic? Not that I come on here for sexual jokes, but I don't really see how sexual jokes connect with someone posting naked children on here.... I mean what about linking to a Louis CK bit or another comedian routine that's sexual in nature?

It is extremely restrictive and it's gonna ruin the forums quite a bit. But hey, it's Tib's site and ultimately we all have to respect the rules as stupid as this part is.

Also, this place is never going to be family friendly. I read the word cunt on here all the time. Republicunt is in half of the political threads here. People call each other assholes and fucktards and pretty much everything else. It's been great for my vocabulary, but families aren't exactly sitting around with complimentary chips and salsa to read an Atheist Forum together. Sex is also the base of a lot of humor, seems like it'll make things kind of dull.

They'll probably ban that next.

I'm thinking I've probably posted some pedo-priest cartoons that will need to be purged.
Sorry.
Am I correct if a cartoon portrays a priest actually 'in the act' it is prohibited now ?
Too bad we can't temporally align stopping those cartoon depictions with the actual cessation of the outrages in RL . . . .
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Overtly sexual. "That's what she said" is fine. Comedy routines that are sexual in nature should be posted in Area 69.
The prohibition of sexual jokes has nothing to do with the posting of naked children; it's to keep us in line with the advertisement platform policies.
As for the swearing, as long as it's not prolific (which would likely violate our no flaming rule anyway), that is allowed. I use the term "family friend" very loosely. I'm trying to keep the site within the advertising policy guidelines without being too harsh. Swearing is encountered in society increasingly often; pornography is not.

No problem.
Yes, you would be correct with that description. Effectively, if the cartoon is making a direct reference to sex / pedophilia in some way, it's not allowed.

Just occured to me, another site I was on years ago had mod approval for all pics. That is a bit much to task the mods with, but would the forum software permit the addition of a 'mod' tag (instead of a hide tag) that would allow only mods to see the pic, and if not a violation, to remove the tag.
It would also help on occasions when the tag isn't removed that those of us out in the fora would then be getting feed back where the line is, as I am sure 'the line' is going to a be a subject of much behind the scene mod discussion.
I know I went a very long time without posting any pics here, and it seems I really post scads now.

Is there advertising on Atheist forums? Can't we just all donate a little more money? I mean it's not really a big deal for me personally, because I doubt I ever violate the rule anyway. It's not what I'm here for. I just like to avoid that slippery slope. Just like it's the nature of government to add laws and never repeal them, so too is it the nature of internet forums to add more rules and never get rid of any of the old ones.
