I'd probably vote for Penn, but I also doubt he could ever win the primaries. If he did, I'd be seriously worried about the state of the democratic party. I wouldn't defend the stupid things he says, and I'd probably end up voting third party if a serious candidate appeared. Even if it meant 4 years of Ted Cruz as President. (It'd be easier to swallow if I had a Democratic House)
The whole tone of Church teaching in regard to woman is, to the last degree, contemptuous and degrading. - Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Yep ... they made their beds, now they'll lay down in them.

Hmm... A religious maniac or someone who was invited to speak at Hitchen's memorial service. Tough choice. Gee.
But seriously, no. You chose a bad "Trump". There already was a Trump equivalent on the left in this race, it was that wizard dude from Vermont(not saying he was bad, but they were similar in that they were both extreme and cartoonish representatives of their respective sides, both of them outsiders, both of them with very unrealistic agendas, and so on). There is no indication Sean penn ever had to ask, three times in hour, during a briefing with national security advisors why the United States can't just use nuclear weapons whenever it wanted to. Nothing is quite as reliable as an unnamed source quoted by MSNBC, eh? RE: Who would be a better president? Sean Penn vs Ted Cruz

Penn or Cruz?
Cruz, no doubt about it. He's so thoroughly unlikeable that even his colleagues and fellow Republicans in Congress can't stand him. He exudes a Nixonian uncomfortable-in-his-own-skin grace with the charm of a gutter rat who talked his way into a used car salesman gig. And he's a Jesus freak. In other words, to this avowed enemy of the post-Southern Strategy GOP, he's perfect. If Trump proves unequal to the task of killing off the GOP, Cruz just might be the final wooden stake to the heart of the beast. Besides, I think Penn is a great actor and underrated director, and I want him to make more films. |
