What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Would you guys read a Steampunk novel set in an alternate year 1908 in which a motley crew is sent via Airship to investigate the Tunguska event? Because I have the first chapter draft finished in my head...

This is probably my absolute favorite time period, btw.

That depends on how good of a writer you are.

I imagine it to fork from our time line somewhere in the mid 1800s, such that by 1908, Europe looks more steampunkish than it actually did...

That's a very good question to which I haven't got a real answer yet. I've received high praise for my technical and textbook writing in the past, but this is a different animal.

Yeah, I would.

Not really a follower of steampunk but I think that's simply because I haven't really read much.

Some of the reasons I love this time period are Wittgenstein, logical positivism, the Vienna Circle, and the weird fiction set in this era. It's an estuary in which the ancient and modern mix, a fascinating atmosphere.

(And my atheist great-grand parents, who lived through this era and are the only members of my family that I know of who were atheists).

Aside from my own personal preferences though, this does sound like an intersting story idea.
