I know about irritating spouse's friends. Mrs. Crossless1 has a friend who is one of the most grating people I've ever met. She looks like Janis Joplin and Karl Malden had a shameful love child that was abandoned at the entrance to a distillery. Ignorant, loud, obnoxious, and belligerent -- at least when she drinks, which is daily (one of those gin-and-juice for breakfast types). Roll out the proverbial red carpet for her when she is a guest, and you'll be repaid when you are at her place by not even being offered a damn glass of water. She emotionally neglects her teenage son, who has basically developed into a sullen troll who never leaves his room except to go to school.

I've often asked my wife what the hell she sees in this harpy, and her response invariably is, "Stop it! Don't be an asshole. She has a good heart."

OK, my wife is much nicer than I am, but I have yet to see evidence of this 'heart'.

Yeah, we use the term "skank" over here as well. Slapper is more of an English term and isn't used very often up here in Scotland. I don't particuarly care who fucks who either, as long as they aren't hurting anyone.
