Trump isn't Hitler. I doubt he'll start WW3. But the damage he and Pence can actually do to individuals, our nation, other countries and yes the whole planet, is a very real concern.
We can talk again in 30 years when potable water is fought over, and the Great Barrier reef is a dead memory and we can no longer eat fish from the ocean. The science deniers that just got power could be worse than war though.

I don't agree with the reason you used it, but that is one of my favorite Cartman scenes ever, lol.

You horse lost. drop the BS, and learn from your mistakes. The LA times can call the economy whatever it likes but if they pretend that Obama didn;t exceed the campaign promises of his rivals they;d just be lying. So, wtf are you babbling about, now?
Quote:All that matters is whether voters want a change or not. And that depends on how well the economy has been performing under the outgoing administration; in this case, the Obama administration.
Well, I doubt that;s al that matters...but if what voters wanted was a change they;re going to be disappointed. Wealth will now transfer more quickly and expeditiously from the poor to the rich. That was, after all, a campaign promise Trump made...and unless you think he;s a lying peice of shit that -din;t- plan to tax the poor to enrich the rich, as he said he did.....then...wtf...are you babbling about....now?
Quote:For the last, agonizing six months, the airwaves and newspapers have been filled with political prognoses. Every commentator claimed special insight into how voters would cast their ballots and why. Most of them were wrong, of course. And according to economic theory, completely irrelevant. None of the political factors the pundits cited ad nauseum even enter the best economic models.
I'd disagree. I'd say that they were right. Hillary just blew an easy victory
Quote:Simply put, Clinton lost because the economy under President Obama did not perform well enough to meet Fair’s thresholds of happiness. Economic growth was anemic for nearly all of the last eight years. As a result, job creation lagged far behind the records set during other post-recession recoveries.
Still beat his political opponents promises.....and, of, he'll -have- done a better job than trump on that count..what with trumps plans being to, apparently bring back jobs from a place they aren't even -at- anymore. / shrugs
I know, I know, all this talk about economics you don;t understand..to avoid what you'd already acknowledged earlier...that you had "other" problems with obama. You're so eager to imagine that you're arguing with you political opposition it never occurs to you that I don't think that Obama did anything of note for the working class as regards the economy...I know he didn't...and Trump will do even less than that, just as he said he would, lol. You;re just a fucking moron who didn;t know the numbers in the first place, and has incorrectly interpreted trumps economic plan as beneficial to you....like so many others, lol. We are going to lose money, and the tax burden will fall increasingly on the poor...who have no money to begin with. How trump plans to pay for walls and bridges and all of that other shit...by squeezing the rock of your wallet and head..is a mystery...but you think he;s gonna do it...because, I guess, you've conflated him with some other guy, who could turn water into wine. You can pomp and posture alll you like sport.. bottom line? You are going to just have to wait and see like everyone else. I can tell you about obama's failures as a president till you are blue in the face, but again as the article points out. It all comes down to money. If people are happy with the ecconomy they do not make changes unless it is a matter of war. If they are not happy they seek change from the other party.
Like it or not obama fan or not your horse lost this race because the last one from that stock also under performed.
And as far as obama's race is concerned he is one of my people Not one or the other but a mix.

I've been dying to use that on someone who voted clinton. I tried to do it on a particularly obnoxious family member, but my better 1/2 said no.. So i just did it here.. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up twice.

Smoking does not cause cancer or EVERYONE who smokes would have it. In truth smoking or exposure to the carcinogens in cigarette smoke can triggers potentially cancerous growths/damaged cells. we all have potentialy cancer cells in our bodies all the time. It is just a matter of you body being able to flag them and dispose of the before it is overwhelmed and the over abundance of these damaged cells takes hold. For some the smoke weaken the imune response and the damaged cells take over and in others smoke triggers the over production of cells which can be just made by your body which would mean there is a genetic reason you have cancer, that was triggered by the carcinogens in the smoke.
Lol, dude...just stop. You missed the point entirely. No one said anything about smoking causing cancer in people 100% of the time; that's absurd. What I'm saying is that he denies that there is any link all between smoking and cancer which is ALSO patently absurd, lol. He is smoking "truther" who thinks it's all a big conspiracy. In other words, he is anti-science, just like his stupid president-elect who doesn't "believe in" global warming.

Second of all, there is quite a difference between being afraid, and being evil. What I said was that willful ignorance won out. Ignorance by itself is just a lack of knowledge. That's all. We are all ignorant in certain areas and subjects in life. It's not inherently an insult. willful ignorance, on the other hand, is a completely different animal.
OK, you said that "Baseless irrational fear, and willful ignorance won out over intellect, reason, and critical thinking skills," and that you're embarrassed by it.
What would you expect a Trump voter to take away from that?
Quote:I disagree that all it would take is a little bit of empathy. Empathy is a great place to start, sure, but it's futile if the person you are engaging with refuses to acknowledge facts simply on the basis that those facts contradict their feelings about a certain topic.
If you first validate the person's feelings, they may listen to you about (your view of) the facts.
Quote:To be fair, I shouldn't lump ALL Trump supporters together. It's hypocritical of me, and If I gave that impression, I'm sorry. But, I think it's perfectly fair to say, based on what just went down here in this country, that fear mongering works.
I disagree, as the left engaged in fear mongering, but Trump won. Trump and the nuclear codes was brought up throughout the campaign. A few days ago The Atlantic ran a piece basically saying that if Trump wins, we'll have nuclear war with North Korea. That's fear mongering. I'm sure it worked on some people, but not on enough.
No...that's not fear mongering; that's a legitimate fear, lol.

I haven't found any credible sources to the conversion therapy thing.

You have to keep in mind that we're all in America.
Jumping the ship makes you a coward.
We're all in this together.
Trump won, whether you like it or not he is president.
Now we have to support him as much as we can.
Americans first. Parties last.
