To some degree I understand this view in critiquing the pervasiveness of raunch culture, which is often perpetuated by the fashion industry, but then I don't think "modelling" is necessarily always promoting that. It's not a monolithic profession, "modelling" ranges literally from average normal looking people wearing clothes in catalogues to the surgically augmented glamour modelling. There are even models with all-natural average bodies who specialise in realistic depictions of the male and female form, in a not so overtly sexualised and idealistic manner.

Sure it's not discovering the cure to cancer or finding distant planets, but it's not all sexual.

Beautiful people tend to live easier lives while smart people are often affected by various mental diseases that leaves them depressed and suicidal.

The perk of being smart is you're going to be contributing more to society.

The perk of being hot is you're going to be the reciever of all the contributions smart people make without going through all the effort.

Like I said, both are unique, both have its ups and downs and we need both for a functioning society.

It's not a surprise to see Republicans resort to such behavior. Especially when it's encouraged by their leader. Judging women solely by their appearance, and acting as if Republican women are superior because... they're (allegedly) better looking. They have to resort to ad hominem attacks against women, because everything else they try fails. They're culture is dying. It's a slow death, but it's still dying. And I for one will be glad when it's gone.

How about by their intelligence? Republicans have Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, and Christine O'Donnell. Of course this is no surprise since many republicans still stick to the idea that the world is only 10,000 or fewer years old and don't seem to have a clue what the word 'science' means. They count among their members Jerry Falwell Jr. and Ray Comfort.
