And the GAO estimates that 70% of US corporations pay no taxes NOW so lowering the tax rate is not much of an incentive.

Step away from Breitbart, get your head out of your ass, and wake the fuck up, Scoobs.

Why is it that some people feel like it's an intellectual strength to not read conservative news. I read Breitbart, I also read the Huffington Post. It's called having a diverse and well informed opinion.

Because, dumbass, there is only one reality and citing Breitbart bullshit makes you less credible.

Quote:Trump’s infrastructure splurge would collide with US skilled labor crunch

Quote:Earlier this year, the National Association of Home Builders estimated there were around 200,000 unfilled construction jobs in the United States, an 81 percent increase in the last two years.
Infrastructure projects need highly trained workers, such as heavy equipment operators and iron specialists. But as a result of the 2007-2008 recession, which caused an estimated 25 percent of construction jobs to vanish, their ranks have thinned. (Graphic: http://tmsnrt.rs/2h9paJX)
Many of these workers went back to school, joined the military or got lower-paying jobs in retail, services and other sectors. Some just got too old for the rigors of construction.
“They wandered off into other careers,” said Leonard Toenjes, president of Associated General Contractors of Missouri, which represents contractors in the state.

Quote:Harry Holzer, professor of public policy at Georgetown University, said fixing roads and bridges would boost U.S. productivity and, depending on how it is structured, generate good-paying jobs for those without college educations.

Given shortages of high-skilled construction labor, he said government ought to ramp up the projects carefully to allow time to train a new generation of skilled workers. “I’m not sure anyone has thought that through,” he said.

And no, ignoring the problem and especially the cause of the problem doesn't help in coming up with a solution to the problem. When people choose to be willfully ignorant for their own convenience, pandering to them like this isn't gonna change them.

True, when you cant point out to Trump voters that we have seen the political demagoguery tactic, that it gave rise to McCarthyism, Jim Crow and WW2 Germany, and they wont even listen to 50 Republican law agents who call him dangerous. And even after he during his "Thanks suckers" tour, once again tried to pawn it off as just being "all an act", it is extremely hard to find any value or trust in him or the GOP. And he put in a bunch of warmongering anti education anti science nutfucks.

I think you are right, we cant pander to them, but nobody wants a civil war, so we can only hope in short time Trump will get stupid enough without blowing up the planet by jumping a shark so big not even the GOP can ignore it.

But we should appeal to our dems to ban together and appeal to the dems in the house and senate to grow a backbone and fight back. The world is very close to the edge right now and our planet hasn't seen this instability since JFK and Cuba.

Very little by way of "liberal" media anywhere, due to the corporate nature of it. Your two strands are 1) economically conservative with a veneer of simulated concern for the lest fortunate (which is the mainstream publications), and b) full on Volkische Beobachter which is the likes of Fox or Breitbart.

With the first category you get a vision of reality, albeit filtered through "capitalism is good, capitalism is great, we surrender our will as of this date" rose tinted spectacles. The second group works solely on the principle of "the great masses of the people fall more easily for the big lie than the small one".

When people on here say 'stop reading Brietbart' or 'Turn off Fox News' they are basically saying they don't like listening to opinions other then their own. Also, unlike most people, I'd much rather read opinions that I disagree with. How boring is it to only read your own opinion all the time? I already know what I believe, I don't have such a fragile ego or intellect that reading Brietbart or listening to Christian radio or whatever is going to do anything negative to me. People who say not to listen or read conservative news maybe don't have that much strength or resolve in their own opinions.

Lol, that's absurd.  People don't say not to read Breitbart and watch Fox News because they don't like different opinions.  They say to stay away from them because they often willfully manipulate statistics, tell half-truths and even outright lie to push a conservative narrative.  Sure, every news source is going to get something wrong on both sides,  but sources like Breitbart and Fox purposefully peddle bullshit to pander to conservatives.  Hell, even the normally politically neutral Weather Channel had to come out and tell Breitbart to stop misusing what they say to spread lies.  Anyone who is looking for a conservative viewpoint is much better off reading the Wall Street Journal or something like that.  They don't have to make shit up.

It's funny.  The liberal news sources will give liberal interpretations of stories and push a liberal narrative by selecting what they report, and I'm sure they're even guilty of reporting half-truths sometimes.  The conservative sources like Breitbart, Drudge Report, Fox News and Infowars stoop to outright lying and manipulating statistics to push their narrative.  It's almost as if they're trying to prove that you can't push the hard-right view without being dishonest.

Lol yes. Should I inform myself with all bullshit sources? They're not all equal. I'm not going to waste time reading what Conservapedia thinks after reading a Wikipedia article.

Citing is not the same as reading. I'm just saying people should read as much as they can from lots of different perspectives. Telling people to not listen to people of a certain opinion makes your own look weak, like you are afraid Brietbart will convince people. Besides if something like the the raw story talks about Brietbart, I want to read the article that they are talking about, to make sure I'm not being fed a pile of horseshit.

We should inform ourselves with non-shitty perspectives. I'm not going to see what the Bible says on the matter and I don't even have to read one sentence from the Bible to disbelieve in Biblical bullshit.

Right wing views limit freedom. Fuck knows why I'd want to inform myself with views that go against absolutely everything I stand for. I'm not gonna be reading conservative news articles and one day say "Wow this suddenly makes sense! Let's limit people's freedoms and start taxing the rich less and I'll have my disability money reduced! Wow the right wingers are right I'm spending the government's money with my disability pay! And the working class definitely ought to be angry with me and not the rich corrupt business assholes who pay zero tax!"

....yeah.... not gonna happen. I'm not completely liberal but I'm more left than right wing for a reason.

Some views are just wrong.
