I expect to live long enough to see the Browns and Lions play in the Superbowl, and it will be tragic: a double overtime game in which the win comes as the result of some player's mistake -- a mistake so grotesque that the names Scott Norwood and Tony Fernandez will be erased forever from the memories of sports fans. There will be death threats, riots, and mass suicides in one of the cities. Small children will watch their fathers weep bitter tears. Faith in God will become a thing of the past.
I'm not saying it will happen to the Browns, but I know how I'm going to bet that game.

Saving it for the AFC Championship, Tibbers. Coming for you.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Here's how it works. You must predict the winners of every playoff game (including the Super Bowl) before the playoffs starts. You will get 1 point for a wild card round win (because you know who will be playing), 3 points for a divisional round win, 5 points for a conference championship win, and 7 points for a Super Bowl win.
Here are the picks I need from you by Friday January 6th:
Wild Card Round:
Raiders (12 - 4) @ Texans (9 - 7) TEXANS (me going for the LUCKY AWARD)
Lions (9 - 7) @ Seahawks (10 - 5 - 1) *laughs SEAHAWKS
Dolphins (10 - 6) @ Steelers (11 - 5) STEELERS
Giants (11 - 5) @ Packers (10 - 6) PACKERS
Divisional Round:
(Seahawks OR Packers OR Giants) @ Falcons (11 - 5) PACKERS
(Texans OR Raiders OR Dolphins) @ Patriots (14 - 2) PATRIOTS
(Steelers OR Texans OR Raiders) @ Chiefs (12 - 4) CHIEFS
(Packers OR Giants OR Lions) @ Cowboys (13 - 3) COWBOYS
Conference Championships: (can i pick these later or must be now?)
Cowboys OR Falcons OR Seahawks OR Packers OR Giants OR Lions. COWBOYS
Patriots OR Chiefs OR Steelers OR Texans OR Raiders OR Dolphins. PATRIOTS
Super Bowl
Patriots OR Cowboys OR Chiefs OR Falcons OR Steelers OR Seahawks OR Texans OR Packers OR Raiders OR Giants OR Dolphins or Lions
PATRIOTS FOR THE WIN
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

What about the, totally random, picks for the playoffs I gave you before the start of the season? Can I pretend they never happened?

That's a separate competition. You can enter both. You and I are the only people who entered the pre-season playoff pick'em competition and to be honest we both did pretty badly at judging the league winners so far. We'll have to see how the games turn out.

I realize it's a stretch.
Let's just say I'll live to see that happen before I see the Vikings win it. I carry around something like a certainty in my bones that they won't win the Superbowl until I've been laid in the ground -- probably the very first damn Superbowl after I'm dead.

Tibs, initially I was confused, but it seems for the rounds after the wildcard, simply remove the names you did not pick from your model, that leaves you the teams left over.

Sort of, though it's confusing because the Raiders and Texans could play either the Patriots or the Chiefs depending on the other wild card winner. Top seed of the conference always plays the lowest seeded wild card winner.

Hey this is your shin dig here, I simply copied your model and removed all the options I didn't pick.
Just look at my PMs and my moms and tell me if we violated this concept. I don't see how since all we did is backspace and delete the teams not picked in your multiple choice options model.
