4 in custody after mentally disabled man tied up, tortured on Facebook Live

Chicago police were made aware of the video Tuesday afternoon. A young African American woman streamed the video live on Facebook showing at least four people holding the young white man hostage.

"The video is reprehensible," said police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

"It's sickening. You know it makes you wonder what would make individuals treat somebody like that," Police Supt. Eddie Johnson added.
Throughout the video, the victim is repeatedly kicked and hit, his scalp is cut, all while he is tied up with his mouth taped shut.
At one point, the victim is held at knife point and told to curse President-elect Donald Trump. The group also forces the victim to drink water from a toilet.

Wondering if anyone has seen this story and what they think about it. Has anyone seen it on TV or is it not being treated as a major news story over there? 

Would we all agree this is a close and shut "hate crime" that these utter cunts should be locked up for?

It's a hate crime.

Despicable. Additionally, I think hate crime laws are for the most part redundant and unfairly enforced - especially considering this case will almost certainly not be classified as one.

But you're ignoring the racial motivations behind the attack.

I guarantee you that if a bunch of white people kidnapped a black man, shouted "fuck obama and fuck black people" and proceeded to hurt him and force him to do humiliating things the entire fucking forum would be posting in this thread and it would be receiving attention from news networks all over the world.

I'm sure it is a hate crime. I'm not ignoring the motivations behind the act. I just think that it's no different to any other hate crime.

I wonder if MTV can tell the victim what he did to deserve this.

It's sick. Those 4 are sick puppies and need to be put down like sick puppies.

It is no different to any other hate crime. It's a shame though that it will likely get treated differently.
