So I was watching this interview Rachel Maddow was doing with Bernie Sanders and there was a point in the interview when Rachel asks' him to what he would say to people who are afraid of this election outcome, and to be honest it gave me the chills.

Why does it give you the chills? I mean, Bernie speaks reasonably overall and his reply is just one line in the whole interview referring to something we're all aware of.

It was just comforting for some reason

It has been forefront since Trump first announced his candidacy in 2012. He will have nuclear codes.

There's that story about Nixon, dead drunk and depressive, who wanted to launch a nuclear strike. Kissinger supposedly prevented that. My biggest concern is, however much I despise Kissinger, that there's no similar cool headed professional in Trump's staff. As is typical for a creature like that, he surrounded himself with yesmen. However, there's one hope. That Trump sees the presidency as an opportunity to line his and his family's pockets. People being in it for the money, usually don't destroy what they want to exploit.

While I think he's the scum of the earth, I do believe that Mike Pence is a bit more level headed.

First, the VP usually isn't the first one at the ear of the President. Cheney may be the exception of that rule. And secondly, nobody really knows for sure if Pence isn't into end times porn. He's a religious nut, that's for sure. How much that is clouding his judgment is anyone's guess.

As I said, in that freakshow that is Trumps administration, the only shred of hope is him wanting to cash in.
