On a serious note. It wouldn't shock me at all if the Neanderthals were the more peaceful group and modern humans just pillaged and plundered them into extinction. They didn't even know what hit them.

Well, one can't think of isolated HHS bands moving into Europe as following any kind of coherent plan.  They would actually have been at a disadvantage as HNS would have known the terrain much better than the newcomers.  I don't know that bones and rocks will ever give us the answer to that particular question.   I suspect some difference in the birth rate between the groups could be a big part of the answer.
