Atrocities in the Bible
RE: Atrocities in the Bible
It seems like such a simple story.  Man thinks his wife might be sleeping around.  Man takes wife to shaman on suspicion of other penis.  Shaman chants spells and feeds woman potion.  If side piece penis, spells and potion cause woman to miscarry. If not, all is forgiven (or...at least, all is forgiven from the hubbys point of view, lol).

I'd love to know how I - and every translation of the the bible- got this one wrong. It would be useful to know what it -is- about, since we can't trust the bible to be about....what it's about...apparently.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

No no no, see, you are missing the point.

First off, I ctrl+f searched "abortion" and got nothing.

Secondly, we are against choice. Here, the woman has no choice so it's not an abortion.

Checkmate, atheists.

The bitter water therapy might be an improvement on the Jewish Babylonian Talmud one which mandates roasting or strangling the woman. In the Bible Judah wanted to roast Tamar.

That's why I remarked the bitter herb thing was a sign of liberal slackerism.

And THAT'S why today's Christers don't like it.

Bronze age morality is just pushing things too fast and too far.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Let's get some facts about what the woman is drinking, feel up to it or are you going to continue believing something that's not true? If you are game go back and read the verses Num. 5:11-31 and tell me what the water solution is made of, okay. After this we can investigate other parts of the verses to find more truth, okay.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

-Whatever- she's drinking, it's part of a ritual to induce a miscarriage, the narrative is crystal clear on that. Now you, because you believe in magic...can believe that it's a curse that causes said miscarriage...while a slightly less credulous reader might surmise that she's being force fed abortifacient at the behest of her jealous husband by a baby killing shaman....but either way.....the intended result is miscarriage.

Still waiting, btw, for you to correct the word of god, and tell us what it's really about, in your opinion.

It's not the right way to do it.  We all know we have a strict and vengeful God.

This is a clearly better way of achieving the desired results:

They will fall by the sword;
their little ones will be dashed to the ground,
    their pregnant women ripped open
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Chemicals can be iffy, jabbing a broad sword up to the hilt is a guaranteed kill of both the pregnant slut and the swelling evil in her womb !!

I see you and vorlon13 don't want to see the truth of the passages, I ask a simple thing of vorlon13 and neither of you bothered to read the passages and answer my question. You just keep up your childish attitude of running down the scriptures and I know why. Both of you are afraid of the truth so you make up your own story so you can take potshots at the Bible. Immature attitudes like the two of you have are detrimental to learning and knowledge.
I'm trying to do as you ask but, in my own way, I guess you have objections to Christians that you're bigoted towards of doing things independent of your ways and you are afraid of learning the truth of these passages.
