In the definitions I said "Hitler took a set of X actions"  And then said Trump took a subset of X actions, we'll call Y.  I'm curious what exactly you think you fixed?
Your nonsense attribution of "my" argument, ofc.  If you want to talk about what -I- think, what I've been trying to explain to you, all you need is that single sentence.

People, in making comparisons, are saying...explicitly, that.  Not that Trump somehow -is- Hitler.  Not that Trump gassed any jews.  That's why your every comment, and silly attempt to rescue those comments by googling a fallacy which doesn't apply...need to be rethought from, literally, page one.

No one was saying what you were bitching and moaning about..and you are incapable of mounting any defense against what people -are- saying..because those are just the fucking facts of the matter.   Non negotiable, not amenable to interpretation, and not going to change..seeing as how they already happened in the cases of both figures being compared.  Trump can't de-hitlerize his campaign after the fact.  Trump can't uncall for those concentration camps in his EO's.

You, can't unscrew your trumpian apologism. You're going to have to start from scratch. If you want to run off looking for logical mis-steps, try to deal with those that every one of your comments depended on..that you so thoughtfully included....even as you were whining about the fallacies others supposedly committed. You had to invent something, attribute it to me, totally miss the pulse, and still manage..even in that, not to argue against or defend the trumpster -from- any of those comparisons. Epic fail, Wally.

Did I say that? Howzabout you read what I've written? I was trying to explain to you the reason why there are some parallels. I did not say that those reasons are the big reason why Hitler was a cunt. Some of them (racist politics, anyone?) did make him a cunt even without the Endlosung ... and are also shared by Trump.

If you need further explanation, let me know and I'll try. But bear in mind that I can't type any slower than this, and I don't really have any patience with some asshole online strawmanning me when I'm writing perfectly plain English.

(June 19, 2017 at 9:17 pm)wallym Wrote: Or do you think it was the murdering that followed the castigating.  Because castigating is like THE political move of the 21st century.  Seems like it's at the heart of every campaign.  Find a group of people and call them evil.   NRA, religous right, hollywood elite, wallstreet, 1%, blacks, Hispanics, whites, males, atheists, educated, uneducated, people who watch fox news, people who went to ivy league schools....  and on and on and on and on and on.

And now we have a parallel between modern America and Weimar Germany -- fractious, bitter politics with an evacuated middle, a refusal to compromise. But that doesn't mean that the parallels between Trump and Hitler are imaginary, or commonplace.

Bullshit. Since they're apparently everywhere, name three politicians who practice that regularly, and bring examples of their big lies.

You and I both know you're full of shit on this point. Or, you don't know what the Big Lie is. It is not your run-of-the-mill political lying.

Some politicians are shittier than others ... unless you're spending a day or two trying to defend Trump by making him look normal.

Your lack of perspective is startling.

What wallym is doing by grossly misrepresenting the criticism of Trump is pretty much following the Fox news playbook. It is a big reason why there is such a divide in the country now making communication so difficult.

Among the the other reasons, being that we have an indiana casino caliber hitler impersonator in office....and alot of these tools voted for him.  Now they're on the hook for his shit and they instinctively realize that.  Hell or high water, they're not going to bring themselves to acknowledge that they were either the idiot marks of a second rate con...or that they, you know..like the shit that trump and hitler have both done.  Ultimately, the trumpsters don't defend trump (and hey, who could, lol), they're seeking to defend themselves and their loved ones from the collective guilt they decided to bring down on their own heads.

"Trumps not like hitler, I'm not a common sympathizer!"

Yes, he is......yes, you are.  That's the new american normal.  So thanks for that.

A war would be a great way to give cover to his administration..plus, that's sort of another comparison between hitler and trump..promising to reinvigorate the economy in part by vast increases in defense spending (the other part being the vacating, shall we call it, of some people™ who took our jyobs!)  Winning again, especially at war, was very important to both men, and to both men's constituencies.

He has pushed more than I ever thought was possible in this country.  Misinformation by way of a nationally syndicated news service which is as transparently biased as Fox goes a long way when the unwashed masses rely on it exclusively for what little information they have.  MSNBC is also slanted, but it would be a false equivocation to say they distort to the same level.  Slanted and distorted are not the same thing.

It's the association fallacy.  I looked it up, because I know you guys really like naming fallacies.

A = Hitler
B = Evil
C = Tactics/Rhetoric
D = Trump

The Argument:
A is B
A is C
D is C
What people are mistakenly implying is that
D is B.

For that to be true, all C need to be B, but nobody is even trying to demonstrate All C are B.  People just keep saying A is C.  D is C.  And A is B.  But that says nothing about whether or not D is B.  And D is B is what's really relevant.

I don't think Trump is evil because he's like Hitler. I think they're both evil because of their behavior. Granted that Hitler's was extreme and Trump's isn't. You're acting as if I think Trump is evil because he uses Hitlerian tactics. I don't. I think Trump is evil because he's a racist who wants to ensconce his racism in national policy. I think he's evil because he's a sexual predator by his own admission.

I don't need Hitler to think Trump is evil. That doesn't, however, blind me to the parallels.

Did you vote for Trump? Are you trying to justify ex post facto a serious mistake?

RE: Why can't Trump supporters admit there is something wrong with him
Hitlers actions were so over the top as to be disgustingly admirable in an appreciation for a good villain sort of way.  Didn't start out like that, though.  Trump,  less extreme sure - but only relative to fucking hitler..lol. Still extreme, just in a petty and rudderless way.

What germany stood to gain from nazi policy was clear and utterly compelling.  No such luck for the trumpsters.  So, -there's- a point where comparisons are limited.

Also, just wanted to point out that wally's contributions to this thread exemplify the OP's point exactly.
