I honestly don't care about its religious significance.  It's the historical significance that is important to me.

Of course, they claim an American airstrike did it (not entirely impossible), but it seems likely that, as their numbers dwindle and they see the end of their time in Mosul coming fast, they have decided on one final act of petty vindictiveness.

The sooner we see the survivors of this group hanging from gallows, the better.

It's the one where their leader announced their "caliphate" a couple of years back.

The one everyone's been touting will be a symbolic victory when it's captured from them.

ISYS is a legitimate interpretation of Muhammeds desires. In fact, it comes from a straightforward reading of his sayings and his deeds including his executions of prisoners, his executions of those who insulted him, his keeping of sex slaves and his military conquests.

They are just trying to be like Muhammed based on what he said and what he did.

Certainly won't be a gain for the US, who helps them get armed and funded, while using them as their ground troops in Syria and other places. The West needs ISIS, so they aren't going anywhere just yet.

I'm no fan of Islam but to be fair, even Al Qaeda has said that ISIS is way too extreme.
