Good luck with never returning to cigarettes. The longer you smoke, the harder it is to quit. I was fortunate to have only smoked for about a year, before deciding to quit when I heard on the radio that smoking reduces your lifespan by 11 minutes per cigarette. I didn't have it too hard--because I was more of a social smoker, and hadn't been at it too long.

I'd estimate I only smoked about... 400 cigarettes before quitting. That's 3 days off my life for one year of smoking, and I was a light smoker. You can lose years of your life. And then end up getting congestive heart failure, have trouble breathing...

I quit about 14 years ago. Hopefully in 14 years you'll be able to say you've done the same.

I smoked for 36 years. The only times I didn't smoke was when I was pregnant. I smoked approximately one pack per day. I'm glad I quit, but you're right - all those years of smoking came at a cost. I have to do upwards of 6 breathing treatments a day and if I have to walk a far distance, I have to use my inhaler. Oh the costs of having a habit. 

Glad I quit though. I better for it and so is the family.

To cement your new ground you might want to start becoming loudly intolerant toward people who still smoke.  You know, burn those bridges.  

Yeah I've already been called one of "those reformed smokers" who bitch about everyone else's smoking.

It's a great excuse for getting in touch with your inner bitch in public in a manner that the general public will support.  Milk it.

Gotta be careful around certain parts here. Especially the ghetto Wally world. Can't be pissin the folks off over there. They all carry. Better to just avoid the area.
