Gay couples denied full marriage benefits in Texas
Well I shouldn't say this is totally unexpected but with a precedent set like this by SCOTUS... well let's just say the second dark age doesn't seem too far off.

Quote:Same-sex couples can get married in Texas, but they won’t have the same rights that heterosexual couples do.

The U.S. Supreme Court let stand a lower court ruling on Monday that allows the state to take away spousal benefits under employee insurance plans from married same-sex couples.

This is more reason every sane person needs to fight this every day. The GOP wants to drag America back 50 years.

Thanks for pissing me off first thing in the morning. I haven't even had my coffee yet.

Quote:“What an incredible early Christmas present from the U. S. Supreme Court,” Jonathan Saenz, president of Texas Values and a lawyer who helped challenge the limits of same-sex benefits in the state, told the Statesman.

This is no doubt being framed as a "victory for traditional marriage." Would someone please explain to me how heterosexual married couples are better off than they were before the Supreme Court's ruling?

I am more curious to know how the SCOTUS justifies this against "equal protection under the law".

It's like you are reading our newspaper this morning.

Y'all should read the court document. To me it looks like the court said the issues were not completely addressed in the lower courts and more litigation is needed. The articles statements do not accurately reflect the court ruling.

The people who filed this lawsuit should just do the world a favor and kill themselves.
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

This is how i feel on the subject marriage it's not even religious there is nothing magical about it and sure is hell not christian.
You and anyone even me can challenge marriage now vs biblical. Biblical marriage isn't one man one woman you could be married to a lot of people vs one person.
That and hell historically speaking Classical Europe, China and the middle east of all places had same-sex marriages and unions. That and it wasnt until the middle ages
that the church put it's foot down to say marriage only between one man and one woman for obvious reasons of procreation. We're taking a page from the god damn middle ages and taking a step back. This won't fair well at all for them in 2018  Dodgy
