That would make it difficult to work in your environment. I'm not certain I would be able to get much done if errors were not allowed.

What you're getting at (asking for someone to look twice) is in conflict with how you're going about it. It doesn't have to continue like this.

He closed the thread. He didn't ban anyone. He suggested three people to ban, one of them was the wrong person and that was quickly pointed out both here and also in the staff discussion.

Nothing bad happened. We have a system in place to prevent one mod or even one admin from banning someone. Consensus is needed.

That's not fair to use a singular event to paint as consistent incompetence on the part of someone else. LP has contributed quite a lot as a member of the Staff. The Staff considered the post report and came to a consensus on what to do about it. I am sorry for the anxiety this has caused you.

That's not the first time I've seen him get swept up like that, though. 
He's hyper-emotional, makes rushes to judgment, and seems to struggle with comprehension.

Not great qualities in a moderator.

Regardless, the context in which we're discussing this isn't appropriate nor is it constructive. If you have issues with what I or anyone else posts towards the functioning of this forum, report it. We'll use our powers of consensus reaching to decide what to do about it, as we did in this case and all the others.
