I don't use it all the time, but I do sometimes.  I should know better since I aced my speech class, which is probably why I don't say "ummm".

Third grade. Teacher has a thing about "uh, umm". Whenever somebody said that the whole class would go "UH, UMM!!!!" I haven't done it since, nearly sixty years on.

+1 with rap. I mean, it does take some talent to rapid fire rhyme in order to generate a coherent story, but it's just so boring to me because it's usually the same sampled rhythm repeating for 3.5 minutes with the performer never changing the pitch or volume of what they're saying. There's nothing dynamic about it, or interesting in terms of actual sound. I just don't get the appeal.

My mom, who turns 70 in a couple weeks, doesn't distinguish texting and emailing. And it's dismaying because she's used a computer for 30+ years. It's not like she's computer illiterate. But she'll say "Did you get that email I sent you?" when she means 'text' and vice versa.

I have to admit, I don't get binge watching. Do people really just sit around and watch 3, 4, 5 hours of a streamed show at a time?

Setting at the dinner table with others and everyone is texting to people who are not even there. What has happened to social skills and appreciation for those you are with.

More to the point is, "so". Never begin a sentence with, "So." It makes no fucking sense.

And never use idiotic phrases like, "double down."

And never, NEVER use replacement cuss-words. There is no such word as, "arse" or "shite" - at least not in American English. For fuck's sake, if you're going to cuss, then CUSS!

So, I’m gonna have to like double down on my work here. Can’t keep up with this shite.

Ever heard Russian white boys try to rap?   

One person told me "To be fair, the term means 'rhythm and poety'."  "No, ma'am, it means to lay down a line of bullshit."

(I was going to post a youtube of "The Rapper", a slam song about guys who do that very thing, from the '60s. But I couldn't wade through all the other references to "Rapper" that got in ahead of it.)

"Double down" is a betting term used in black jack. You show confidence in your hand by doubling your bet.
