He did tell me that it's incredibly hard for him to just ignore comments and let things go, etc, which I already knew. He said that he can do it for a while until he feels like he just can't anymore. It definitely seems like a compulsive thing. Not saying that it can't be controlled, just saying that it's harder for him to do so than it is for the average person.
He has many contradictions. He said before he doesn't believe in free-will, why so upset at people acting on states they don't per his argument control.

To be honest, though, free will is difficult for most atheists to accept.

Why? You can't live without free-will. If it proves soul/God and is not compatible with just a physical universe, go with what you know, not just deny it so you can deny God and soul, etc.

Any chance we could get someone to split the Hammy thread from the Newly Departed thread?

What for? We have these discussions here all the time. They eventually die and we wait for the next rage quit, rage quit attempt, or vacation break notification. It’s all good, IMHO.

I’m hesitant to create a thread about a member leaving. We don’t do threads to bitch about people. This is a thread to talk about leaving so it seems apropos, but perhaps it does need redirection. Since I’m sort of involved, I will not do it. Please report the thread and mention how far off-topic it’s become of you think staff should discuss it. I preemptively recuse myself.

I doubt very seriously anyone who's ever done it is going to volunteer to split a thread with thousands of posts...

Fuck it. I was going to agree that it should be split, but it wouldn't be worth it to separate all these posts into a whole other thread. Especially when this shit should just get buried deep in the thread and we should just move on already. Clearly there is a divide and some of us feel one way about it and some of us feel another way about it. Nothing is going to change that so why don't we all just agree to disagree and find pleasant things to talk about now.
