I have a fairly innocuous Aussie accent.  Not the type from Kath and Kim (which you probably dudn't get in the 'States).  Mine's more of the Aussie stereotype.

Somewhere I read that Aussie accents are fairly consistant across the country, that there isn't a huge regional difference between one area and another.  Is this true?
