Not including fortnite, cod I know that's an exception, but any other game? If the Plus is required, would we both need it and/or both need to have a copy of the game in question... ie in Trackmania would we both need to have the game and a Plus account in order to play each other over the network?

If by two-player, and I'm guessing you're around the same age as me, it simply doesn't work that way. Two-player is still what the extra controller is for, the person being there physically beside you to play.

For Trackmania, it appears you would need Plus for the multiplayer option; from what I can tell having taken a brief look at it.

Okay, I think I see.. n player... eg 2 player... refers to local players.

So assuming we needed plus, would I then be able to select you (as someone on my friends list) to play as one option OR as a second option have it just randomly assign some player also wanting to play the same game from some queue... ie the same way fortnite works when setting up matches (ie just wait until you get 100 people in a room together wanting to play and then start the next match)?

I've not experimented enough with Plus multiplayer enough to understand precisely how it works. I was playing Mass Effect: Andromeda, went into multiplayer mode, and no one was available so I was thrust in there alone where I died. lol

@Kit. According to this article Sony is planning to allow users to change their PSN IDs from early 2019, so yay... I won't be stuck with that noob name forever after all Wink Big Grin

But unfortunately this proposed feature has the caveat that it is not guaranteed to work seamlessly with all software released so far... and the reason for that - and the reason this feature has apparently taken so long to come about despite many user requests over the years - is speculated in the comments of the article... and I agree that that speculation makes sense... to be due to poor database design on their part in the first place; that is, if the username itself rather than a unique numeric identifier is being used as the primary key in the database, then that makes the process of allowing username changes a much more complicated and much less reliable job than it needed to be.

Anyway, moving on, I really love this game 'Trackmania Turbo'... I said before I thought it was a bit limited in one player mode but I was wrong; I think there's plenty enough to keep me occupied in the game for pretty much ever Smile So I really recommend it to you and was thinking... I know you said you didn't want to but if you were willing to fork out for a PlayStation Plus Account and I was as well, then we'd be able to play together and it looks like... from talk of 'share play'... it may be possible for one to play a game the other doesn't own; so you might be able to play that game with me without buying it, provided I sent you some sort of invite... and vice versa for your games that I don't own. So just saying this, in the hopes that that can tempt you Wink ie there doesn't seem much point in being PS friends together if we can't actually play any games together, but this would allow that Smile

RE: Witcher 3
I've just got my PS+ account now... whether you get one or not... and just testing inviting you to play Streets Of Rage... the invite seems to have gone through but can you let me know if you've got anything your end? so we can find out for sure if we both need to have accounts and/or the game or not. So this is just an experiment really; no pressure here to get an account and/or the game, just experimenting Smile
