It appears I was born into a depressingly long drought of new candy introductions. Push Pops and Airheads came out three years before I was born, and Cookies and Creme Hershey four years after.
Looking it up on Wikipedia, there's also Hershey's Symphony Bars (which I've never had) and Magnum Ice Cream bars (which I know don't count as candy)

So I went back and looked, (non wyzas) and can't find one for my exact year.

I am somewhere between Peeps and candy necklaces.
You would think that after a break of four years after Peeps someone could have come up with something better than candy necklaces...which can just barely be described as 'candy'. I seem to recall them being more of a weapon...hold a bead between your top and bottom front teeth, stretch the elastic tight and bite down just enough to break the bead and shoot basically a spitball made of sugar at the back of the neck of the person in front of you in class.
Sigh...lost in the abyss between Peeps and candy necklaces.
