It is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement, though for many of us, we knew this would be inevitable.

The staff have received word that our fellow moderator, vorlon13, has sadly passed away after a long battle with cancer.

While he did not share his real name with us, he did share some highly specific details which match an obituary posted online, and which was brought to our attention by another forum member who had spoken with vorlon13 privately. With this in mind, we are 99% certain that our friend has died.

vorlon13 joined the forum in 2014 and quickly became a popular member here, as well as a prolific poster. He was elevated to the position of moderator in 2016, and was always very active with his responsibilities. He kept the staff updated on his cancer diagnosis, and despite the seriousness of his condition, he would often make jokes. He will be sorely missed by the staff, and by many forum members.

Please feel free to leave any memorial comments in this thread, or as a user rating on his profile: https://atheistforums.org/user-5905.html

In addition, we will be collecting memorials via PM and posting them on his obituary page online. Since vorlon13 didn't reveal his identity to everyone here during his life, we feel that revealing it in his death would be disrespectful. So if you want to post a short message, please send it to me in a PM, and I will make sure it is posted.

We will miss you vorlie, the place won't be the same without you.

I don't know what to say. I am sure his friends and family will miss him as much as we will miss his posts here. It is never easy to lose a loved one. RIP Vorlon13.

Very sad news indeed Sad He was a great guy with a big heart, and a huge loss to the community.

He was one of the funniest people here and it's a shame to lose him this way. His family must be heartbroken. I'm gonna miss him.

Poor Vorlie. This is such sad news. The forums will definitely not be the same without him. I miss him already. 😔
