Do none of you see self pity in that post? I know CL was venting but what was being said was a little hard core.
Yes, I was insensitive, but sometimes people need to hear some tough love. I've been hoping that CL would get past this for awhile but not seeing much progress. And if you haven't seen my support for CL in the past then you haven't been looking.
If my poke in the CIJS thread and post in this thread pissed you/CL off enough to move on, well, what can I say. Maybe what I had to say had nothing to do with you moving on. But then, ................
I will take responsibility for being insensitive and I do apologize CL. I've been in a tough love mode with several people IRL for months. You might have got caught up in that, it's my fault, not yours.
I guess, on one level, it might be seen as insensitive/ill-timed humor. But, by the looks of it, you've already been reamed for that. So let me say, in your defense, I don't see any malicious intent going on there. And what you said ought not be compared to the shit others have flung in CL's direction.

I'm on your side. Not sure if that's comforting to you or not, but just putting it out there.

Really you three?
So him saying "Um.... I'm pregnant" after she literally poured her heart out about her loss, is okay?
Wow. Just wow.

Self pity? Are you serious? Where exactly do you see the self pity? You know, she’s a human. I wouldn’t be able to muster happiness for my pregnant friends either, if my own baby died inside of me. I don’t understand your callousness at all.

It is, after all, the internet. Can't expect much better.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I remembering see the "too soon" before any response to that, and decided I wasn't going to look at that thread until it was all over. And it's only because I stress for empathetic reasons, I decided not to take part. But I'm sorry Catholic_Lady, I should have been there defending you.

I guess I never expected this level of insensitivity from fellow atheists. We are supposed to be in favor of having humanity for one another.
I would have thought that humanity went hand in hand with empathy. I guess I was wrong. Some people really can be utter fucking douche bags when it comes to the personal losses incurred by others.

No worries. Some of us had her back.

Pissed at myself a bit that I did expect better.

I didn't say "okay." I said "not malicious." There is a difference.

You've all known me long enough to not expect me to always be consistent in how I display emotion. I'm a veritable rollercoaster.
