The Newly Departed thread: announcements (departures)

I blew this up and others weighed in until it was ugly. I thought I was defending CL and it turned into this horrible conversation against her. I should know better than to comment on Kit's inhumane ways.

If anyone started this... that someone was me. Almost 15 pages ago...

In fairness, IMHO, CL frequently resorts to dogma or pat theistic justifications, something that I've found equally as off-putting. (When she isn't simply dismissing people, which she does as well.)

Quote:Some of us have been here that long or just about. We've had those conversations, so we've already explored the facts on the subject.

Indeed.  Same ole - same ole gets old.

Quote:“We have heard talk enough. We have listened to all the drowsy, idealess, vapid sermons that we wish to hear. We have read your Bible and the works of your best minds. We have heard your prayers, your solemn groans and your reverential amens. All these amount to less than nothing. We want one fact. We beg at the doors of your churches for just one little fact. We pass our hats along your pews and under your pulpits and implore you for just one fact. We know all about your mouldy wonders and your stale miracles. We want a this year's fact. We ask only one. Give us one fact for charity. Your miracles are too ancient. The witnesses have been dead for nearly two thousand years.”

― Robert G. Ingersoll

And Ingersoll lived a century ago so you can imagine how bored he'd be!

But I do sympathize with your personal situation, C/L.  It must be maddening for someone so ardently anti-choice/pro-life whatever you want to call it.

Now we just need to settle this like adults, don't we?
I'm starting to seriously doubt the ability of some people here to do that...
Nah just joking, clearly you guys have a way of making things go back to normal in the end. It's been happening for 10 years.

Have patience, come back, and continue to try to show people your path.

Aren’t you a nurse, lol?

I was speaking purely from my personal experience of coming here with the intent of discussion and mutual exchange of ideas and being met with mostly brick walls. Which is true, and is also fine. I'm not saying anything about what yall have or have not considered in the past. I was asked for an explanation of why I decided to leave, and I gave it.

Roadie, Steve, and Neo seem to have split too. I understand why a theist might get frustrated with the atmosphere here sometimes. But I hope you guys come back eventually. Can't have proper discourse when there's only people who agree with my position.

Ironically, it's only the people who appreciated your presence here who are bothered by the fact that you left. Those with whom you have a problem couldn't care less.

O man, I always try to come up with new arguments or different way of paraphrasing it. I decided out of all arguments, I think that God sees us exactly as we are and it has to be that way for us to have existence, is by far the most manifesting to his light and vision by which he creates all things.

No one has come close to refuting that... instead half of the remarks if not more is like "God sees us pee so what?" kind of remarks.

Balance, it's love hate thing I have going on here with this forum and vice versa.

(1) We would be an illusion if God didn't see exactly us as we are. (Have supported this many times).

(2) We aren't an illusion (have supported this)

Therefore God exists and sees us exactly as we are!
