RE: Do ( D )s sell more guns than ( R )s?
Everyone's virtue signalling about all the things, all the time!   Panic
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

No, virtue signaling and actually caring are different things. Virtue signals are frequently harmful to the signaled virtue, but the signaler will get angry if it is pointed out to them that their signal is counterproductive. For example, a virtue signaler wants to convey that they care about saving lives. So they become very enthusiastic about a particular popular issue that will save lives. Another person has a more general interest in saving lives, and wants to pursue more effective ways of saving lives that will yield even greater benefits. The trouble is, the virtue signaler only cares about popular issues. And since they only care about popular issues, most people are virtue signaling what is popular rather than what will work. They are not interested in more effective ways of saving lives that yield even greater benefits

Taking away half the cars in this country, given that something like 10% of the infrastructure is involved with them is certainly a big deal.

Infrastructure: Gas stations, refineries, mechanics, tire stores, car dealers who won't be selling cars, restaurants who feed these people, etc. Taking away half the cars in this country is one of the stupider ideas I've seen presented.

I understand the gun deal, though. It became next to impossible to buy .22 LR ammo after Obama was elected, as part of his rhetoric was about "getting rid of guns". As he found out, that's never going to happen, no matter how much he wanted it. People panicked and bought all they could get. As a weekend sport shooter, it was pretty annoying to me to have to show up at a store the day ammo was delivered so I could get some. I didn't shoot my .22 rifle for years, because I wasn't going to stand in line for ammo.

As far as an "insurrection" is concerned, any imagined confiscation of firearms not used in a crime would boil down to the local police picking them up...and the police aren't going to do that! They have to look at how the civilians are looking at them, and would opt out of that sort of stupidity. Wild-ass expectations of the military knocking on people's doors is some sort of hype by the gun lobbies.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Well, I hate to break it to you dude. But the privately owned automobile is in the crosshairs of quite a few people. The sooner we are rid of them, the better.

You should have called. During the ugly shortage days - i sold over 20,000 rounds of 22lr to a local gun shop - so they could have some on the shelves.

Turned a right tidy ( and legal) profit from it.

Can you say 800% profit margin?

No other points addressed? OK. But you have to turn your vehicle(s) in first, and show the receipt.

-then you've got retail, as well as tourism and just straight up leisure and all of that economic opportunity...and ofc there's that tiny little issue about how most of us use them to get to work or to our doctors appointment, or to drop our kids off at schools, plays, practice, or the library.

If a gun did all of that and was also a gun..I'd be having filthy unprotected sex with one right now. For better or for worse, cars are the indispensable thing in a nation built around cars. -and yet, they're heavily regulated at every level of ownership and those laws are viciously enforced. Additionally, we do know that we need to move past them. Literally nothing about cars matches the situation with guns, making them a phenomenally poor analogy unless a person wanted to posit that we should treat guns a whole hell of alot more like we treat cars.

You know, gun lovers, they have a surgery now that will correct your 'little' problem.

I think that most of us just like to shoot.  I find it downright meditative.  Controlled breathing, a series of slow intentional acts, a gentle pressure with steady fingers, timed with the rise and fall of my chest that produces near surprise at the suddenly violent and powerful kick.

Wife says it makes a girl wanna be a trigger.  Wink

It's not a dichotomy. Brian's doesn't care about people being killed unless they are being killed by one of his hobbyhorse issues. That he doesn't give a shit about people being killed by cars is just one example of many things that Brian doesn't care about. Guns are just a Mount Moral that Brian that uses to take selfies on.
And that's just a smokescreen. Worship

A quick reminder. US servicemen are sworn to protect the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Drunks with guns against armored forces. That would be fun to watch.
