Yet once the baby pops out it's "fuck you I got mine".

But if nothing happens that God does not want happening, then he is the biggest abortion provider worldwide when you consider stillborns and miscarriages outnumber abortions.

Oh, and if you support our ally Israel, please understand that they have very liberal abortion laws.

How is that self-righteous?  You call evil good and good evil.

Your judgmental bullshit is evil.

And really that is giving you too much credit because it is half assed "evil". If you really want to fully control women, you'd be consistent and condemn Israel too. Or better yet, praise Saudi Arabia or Iran whom treat women far worse.

I am sorry you got sold the bullshit idea that pro choice advocates are monsters, but we are not. We don't knock on doors and say, "Hey girls, get knocked up just so we can kill a potential life".

We do not celebrate abortions. We simply say that there are better ways of reducing the need than outlawing them.

Banning all abortions will not make health care better. What will work is FAMILY PANNING, medical screenings, and economic empowerment of women.

I am sick of assholes like you painting us as monsters. You are the same type of person who'd kill a non Hindu for eating beef, or a non Muslim for eating pork.

NOBODY likes or celebrates the idea as if abortion were a party favor at a frat party. We simply do not delude ourselves into thinking life is a utopia where everyone shits ice cream and Roy Rogers rides off into the sunset.

I am sorry someone sold you a utopia. But in the real world, it isn't  always advantageous for a female to be forced to go full term.

Santa isn't real either.

I have an objection to using the word "sickening" as a replacement for "morally wrong." Morality is not based on what makes us feel ill or not. It is based on what is interpersonally destructive. I like to eat peanut butter, banana, and mayonnaise sandwiches. Some people may find that sickening. But by no means is it morally wrong.

If you think there is an equal sign between what is "sickening" and what is "morally wrong"... there is a word for that- nihilism. Or more precisely, "nihilistic expressivism."

Quote:In meta-ethics, expressivism is a theory about the meaning of moral language. According to expressivism, sentences that employ moral terms – for example, "It is wrong to torture an innocent human being" – are not descriptive or fact-stating; moral terms such as "wrong", "good", or "just" do not refer to real, in-the-world properties. The primary function of moral sentences, according to expressivism, is not to assert any matter of fact, but rather to express an evaluative attitude toward an object of evaluation.[1] Because the function of moral language is non-descriptive, moral sentences do not have any truth conditions. Hence, expressivists either do not allow that moral sentences have truth value, or rely on a notion of truth that does not appeal to any descriptive truth conditions being met for moral sentences.

If you think there is any truth value to the statement, "Murdering babies in the womb is wrong," be careful not to confuse that with how it personally makes you feel.

And even outside the issue of abortion. If your argument is that humans should not play God, then you should never go to a doctor yourself. If God knows what he is doing, then doctors are fucking up his plan.

Yea, and the GOP is trying to drag us back to the days of discrimination with medical care. "You are gay or lesbian, I won't treat you".

Imagine what a shit fit a Christian would have if an atheist doctor said, "They believe in old mythology, fuck them.." I bet our friend here stupidly assumes every doctor is their sect of Christianity, or that only Christians have medical licences in America.

In the west the doctor's oath isn't to a religion or political party, but to reduce harm and avoid harm to the patient regardless of personal bias.

If everyone doesn’t mind, I’d really really like to stay away from the debate about whether abortion is morally wrong or not in this thread, if possible.

Can we please discuss what your thoughts are on what this means for the future of the United States.

Well, in regards to the OP, I think that Georgia is way scarier because their control extends to what lies outside their jurisdiction.

As for the future of America: I'm actually not worried... (though maybe I should be). I think the Supreme Court will overturn this shit as fast as it lands on their desk.
