I'm now investigating different types of stairway lifts and shaftless elevators.

Not getting shafted is good. Sorry, someone had to say it.  Blush

At last, I found a local elevator company which specializes in customized residential elevators. I filled out the contact form on their website and hope to hear from them in a few days.  Great

My home elevator project is finally underway. I found a local firm which custom-makes home elevators to suit clients' needs. I also found a local contractor who will work with my carpenter to modify the stairwell in my house and install the elevator. The project will take about two months to complete and is well within my budget.  Happy Dance

Unfortunately, I don't own a digital camera or Smart Phone.  I'm Sorry

RE: Home Elevator
I wasn't entirely satisfied with the last elevator contractor's proposal. Last week, just on a whim, I did a Google search to find out when pneumatic elevators will be approved for use in Massachusetts. Imagine my surprise when I was directed to an news article announcing that pneumatic elevators were approved just over a year ago! A company in Connecticut was granted exclusive permission to install three types of pneumatic elevators, including the one I'm most interested in. Apparently, the company out near Boston deliberately lied to me when they told me that these units hadn't been approved of yet, because they wanted to get my business as soon as they got approval.

I arranged for a meeting of the company tech rep and my carpenter at my home yesterday for a site inspection and proposals to be drawn up. This company also manufactures cable-driven elevators, custom-made to be installed in private residences. I expect to receives some written proposals in about a week.
