Meditation, in small doses can it have large effect? your thoughts on this article

RE: Meditation, in small doses can it have large effect? your thoughts on this article
I haven't tried tantra yet, I am always open to trying things though before assuming they won't work for me. I used to only ever be able to get focused when i was either doing exercise or doing art or making music, but i tried yoga then, just to see what all the fuss was about, and it opened up a whole new avenue of relaxation and focus for me.

Nowadays whenever I ever find myself assuming or tending to think something wouldn't suit or work for me, no matter what it is, I always now ask myself why I feel that way and if i don't have a valid reason or experience with said practice, I will make myself try it, at least a few times, just to see. (obviously this excludes all dogmatic religious practices, and any new age pseudoscientifical or therapeutical practices or remedies..and homosexuality LOL.. but everything else, everything else gets a fair trial Big Grin)

It was a joke J, it's all good, I'm not that funny.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

My apologies, I didn't realise you were joking, I'm still very new here, I guess it will take some time before I am accustomed enough with everyone to get their jokes when they are being humourous.

You're doing fine, J. He's a tough bugger, that Rhythm. Heart of gold, though.

Rhythm's not happy unless he's picking at something on you - when you don't get his notice, then you know something's wrong.

I can understand that. Though I'm taking an extended break due to a knee injury, I used to train in Tae Kwon Do three nights a week. Kicking the crap out of the training bag (or a sparring partner) was quite cathartic. Forms and calisthenics were also mind clearing.

I miss it, but every time my knee pops when I'm executing a spinning kick, it reminds me I'm getting too old for it.

Although what I do would not be strictly considered meditation, there are meditative aspects to some of the therapeutic techniques that I have learned in therapy. When I'm having a panic attack or am in emotional distress, I find those techniques very helpful in finding internal balance and mental well being. I also don't hold any belief in the woo aspects of it, but it is good for my mental health.

I use marijuana for anxiety. It helps, and it's all natural.

True, but I can't be stoned all the time. Big Grin

Interesting in that while my therapist supports marijuana for treatment of anxiety, my prescriber is absolutely opposed.

I have noticed that the techniques used to handle a panic attack are very similar to meditation.
That will never hold up in court...
