I used to carry an ammonia squirter to defend against dogs. In the year I had it, I never used it on a dog. Used it on two people, though.

A simple condiment bottle filled with a noxious liquid works a treat. I kept a ketchup bottle in my bike basket, labeled "battery acid". Never had much trouble after I started doing that.

To OP as much as I would ever hate to hurt an animal if the dog attacks you, you’ve got every right to bring it down with extreme prejudice. It’s the owners fault. If he can’t control his animals.
Hey, it's worth a pass-along.
The contents for the dogs, the label for "due caution". People knew I wasn't one for moderate responses, so they figured "Yeah, that's probably battery acid." |
