My dad caught me at the age of 11 smoking. Tried to get me to quit by making me smoke a pack of Marlboros( I only got into one, but it was his threat) and on top of that made me take of shot of whiskey. His intent was to get me sick, so I wouldn't like it. Just like you hate the smell of cigars. It simply didn't work.  And as far as starting my more frequent smoking at the age of 13, other boys on my block were stealing the cigarettes from their parents and sharing them with me, as well as I stole smokes from my late mother , one by one so she wouldn't notice..  I hope you don't stupidly think kids never get a hold of adult products? This was the mid 70s. 

 Long ago my late mother did, after my late father died, and both of them smoked indoors. What made me stop smoking indoors at least back then was coming across my late mother falling asleep on the couch or in her bed letting her cigarette fall out of the ashtray sometimes finding it on the floor. That was the main reason I don't care about laws banning smoking inside. 

And as far as "Jonesing" it is stupid to assume, that even with cigarettes or cigars or even chew, everyone can simply stop when they want. Nicotine is addictive. I certainly wasn't like a drunk passenger causing the flight staff problems when I got to Australia, but I was wired, my heart was racing and my blood pressure and anxiety kept me awake the entir flight. My brain was screaming "I NEED NICOTINE". Once I arrived and was able to smoke, my nerves calmed down.

The 'Okaaaaay' is about you going off topic and off the fucking rails.  My point was the smell of cigars.  It wasn't about the smell of anything else, it wasn't about smoking, and it certainly wasn't asking for the history of your weak-arsed addiction.
