Why did god create evil?

Why did god create evil?
Why did god create the 'talking snake'? Did he not know what would happen?

How did the 'talking snake' get into the garden? Was god not watching?

This god must have known the 'talking snake' was more powerful than Eve and that Eve had no chance. So this must have been a setup from the get go.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

RE: Why did god create evil?
Because he is a son of a bitch.

...or....

To be more real...

The people who INVENTED the FICTIONAL CHARACTER known as "GOD" or "Jehovah" or "Yahweh" in the old testament were racist, sexist, short sighted jerk slavers who only cared about their immediate profit. They therefore needed something scary to back up their fallacies from authority that they could just take people and sell them as cattle, or treat women like shit, or rape and pillage.

Therefore...God.

Humans are always coming up with stories to explain evil in the world. The people that wrote the bible story just really sucked at it.
If I die and god is real, im so screwed.

CHRISTIAN RESPONSE:

"God created good and evil so we would have free choice in rejecting him or not. He wanted to have a personal relationship with us, not make us puppets on a string. Therefore, there had to be an opposite to "good", that way the option was there.
Man chose evil, so god sent His Son to die for us and restore our relationship without destroying free will."

MY RESPONSE:

"But did not god create the laws of the universe? Couldn't he, in his omnipotence, make it so that free will could be maintained without needing an antithesis for good?
Also; if he wants to "restore our relationship", he could at least make it so his existence is known. A relationship is kind of hard to rationally have if one party is unaware of the others' existence."

THIS A HUNDRED TIMES THIS. I always say if god wants a relationship then come visit me. We hate real life fathers for never seeing their children, why is this guy any different?

But this god knew what would happen, so what was the point? Put the steak on the floor just so he can kick the dog when it tries to eat it?

This stuff pisses me off, because it is essentially saying that evil is a justifiable price to pay for free will. I don't know about anyone else, but I would gladly be a mindless robot if it meant that evil did not exist.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

The whole story is so fucking stupid that even children have an easier time believing Hansel and Gretel.

It's CLEARLY a silly "scary" story for children and those with minds of children. The damn thing could easily fit in to the Brother's Grimm catalog of stories without ever being noticed. The stupidity and gullibility of christians is just off the fucking charts!

Quote:Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”
